Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 23, 2026

This policy covers the information we collect on this website when you apply to drive with Road Star Freight Inc, including how we handle phone calls and text messages. It is written to be read in a couple of minutes, not to be skipped over.

The short version

  • We collect only what the application form asks for: your name, phone number, address, driving experience and date of birth.
  • SMS is not currently offered through the application form. If we introduce text messages, they will be optional and used only for driver application and hiring updates.
  • Mobile opt-in, SMS consent, and phone numbers collected for SMS purposes will not be shared or sold to any third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.
  • We never sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We do not collect biometrics, we do not track your location, and we do not run advertising or analytics trackers.
  • An application that does not turn into a job offer is deleted after 24 months.
  • You can ask us to show, correct or delete your information at any time.

Who we are

Road Star Freight Inc is a for-hire motor carrier based in Belleville, Michigan (USDOT 4327529, MC-1689245). This policy explains what personal information we collect on this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do with it.

It applies to this website and to anyone who applies to drive with us through it. If we ever handle information for a customer as their service provider, that customer's own privacy policy governs that work — ask them, not us.

What we collect

When you submit the driver application, we collect:

  • Your full name.
  • Your phone number.
  • Your full address.
  • Your driving experience period and your date of birth.
  • If SMS is offered and you opt in: your SMS consent, the date and time you consented, the form you used, the message category, and the version of the consent language you saw.

Your agreement. The application form asks you to confirm that you have read this policy and the terms. An application that arrives without that confirmation is refused — we do not accept it, and we do not store it. That single agreement covers the phone-contact and SMS disclosures in this policy. We do not currently collect a separate phone-contact permission or SMS opt-in through the form. If we introduce SMS, we will ask for separate consent before sending any text message.

If you call us instead, we will have whatever you chose to tell us: your name, your phone number and what you told us.

Like every web server, we also see basic technical details while the site is loading — your IP address, browser type, device type and the pages you opened. These are used to keep the site running and to spot abuse.

We do not collect biometric information (no face scans, fingerprints or voiceprints), we do not track your location, and we do not ask for your Social Security number on this site.

How we use it

  • To talk to you about the application. We call you about the driving role, your availability and the next step. If we introduce SMS and you opt in, we may also text you about your application and hiring updates.
  • To send SMS messages if you opt in. If we offer SMS and you consent, we use your mobile number and consent record only to deliver driver application and hiring updates. We do not send promotional or marketing text messages through this program.
  • To verify what you told us. Once you are further along, we check your commercial driver licence and, where the role requires it, run a background or driving-record check. We will tell you before we run it.
  • To meet our legal duties. As a motor carrier we have to keep driver qualification files, hours-of-service and employment records, and to hand records over to regulators when the law requires it.
  • To protect the site and our applicants from fraud, spam and abuse.
  • To improve the site by counting how many people apply and which pages work, without building a profile of you.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not use automated decision-making that has a legal effect on you.

Phone calls about your application

Application calls. By submitting the application, you agree that we may call you about your application, your availability and the next step. Those calls are limited to ordinary application-related matters. This is not consent to autodialed or prerecorded marketing calls, and it is not consent to marketing texts.

We do not currently collect a separate phone-contact permission or SMS opt-in through the application form. Entering a phone number is not, by itself, consent to marketing calls or text messages.

Text messages (SMS)

SMS is optional. We do not currently collect SMS consent through the application form. If we introduce SMS, you will be able to apply without opting in, and your application will still be reviewed.

What we record. If we introduce SMS and you opt in, we will record your mobile number, your consent status, the date and time you consented, the form you used, the message category, and the version of the consent language you saw. The record is append-only, so a later change of mind creates a new entry instead of erasing the old one.

What we send. We use your number only for driver application and hiring updates, such as confirming that we received your application, asking for missing information, scheduling a call, or telling you the next step. We do not send promotional or marketing text messages through this program.

Mobile opt-in, SMS consent, and phone numbers collected for SMS purposes will not be shared or sold to any third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.

We use a messaging service provider to deliver SMS messages on our behalf when the SMS program is active. That provider may process the phone number and message content only to deliver the messages we send, and it may not use them for its own marketing. This is ordinary service-provider processing, not a sale or sharing of SMS consent for marketing.

Message frequency may vary, and message and data rates may apply.

Your choices. Reply STOP to any SMS message to opt out, or contact us directly and ask to be removed from our messaging list. Reply HELP for assistance, or use our Contact page. Opting out of SMS does not affect your application.

We keep opt-out records and do not restore SMS consent because you update your profile or submit the application again. Re-subscription requires the supported START keyword or an explicit request to us. The full SMS terms are in our SMS Terms & Conditions.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only in these situations:

  • With service providers that run our hosting, database, applicant-tracking and cloud systems on our behalf, and — when the SMS program is active — our messaging provider to deliver the messages you opted in to. They may use the information only to serve us.
  • With our accountants, lawyers and other professional advisers, as needed to run the business.
  • With a court, regulator or law-enforcement agency when we are legally required to respond to a subpoena, warrant or legal process.
  • With you, and with the people you ask us to share it with — for example, a reference we contact on your behalf after you tell us to.

We do not share your information with third-party marketers, data brokers or advertising networks, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone. In particular, mobile opt-in, SMS consent, and phone numbers collected for SMS purposes are never shared or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.

How we protect it

  • Information travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and is stored on access-controlled systems.
  • Only the people who need an applicant record to do their job can open it.
  • Applicant files are written with restricted file permissions, and the admin dashboard sits behind a password and a signed-in session.
  • We keep an audit trail of who changed the status of an application and when.
  • SMS consent and opt-out events live in a separate, access-controlled ledger. Only the server can write to it; the database key is never sent to the browser.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

Cookies and tracking

This site uses only the cookies that are strictly necessary to make it work — keeping you signed in and remembering small preferences. We do not set advertising cookies, we do not embed trackers from social networks, and we do not run third-party analytics. If that ever changes, this page changes first.

How long we keep it

  • Applications that do not become a job offer: kept for 24 months from the date you applied, then deleted.
  • If you are hired: your application joins your employment record and is kept for as long as the law requires.
  • Calls: kept only as long as needed to deal with the request.
  • SMS consent and opt-out records: kept for as long as we operate the SMS program, and afterward only as long as needed to honor your choice and show that we complied with messaging rules. If you ask us to delete your application, we may retain the minimum consent or opt-out record needed to make sure we do not message you again.

You can ask us to delete your information earlier — see the next section.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to do any of the following. We will never penalise you for using them.

  • See the personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it.
  • Correct anything that is inaccurate.
  • Ask us to delete your information.
  • Opt out of SMS at any time. Reply STOP to any text message, or contact us and ask to be removed from our messaging list.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising. We do not do that in the first place, so there is nothing to opt out of — but we will confirm in writing if you ask.
  • Know if we use automated tools to make decisions about you, and ask for a human to review the result.

To use any of these rights, contact us using the details in the last section. We may ask you for enough information to verify your identity before we act, and we will always answer within the time the law allows. If you would rather not give us any more information, that is your right too — we will simply not be able to move your application forward.

Driver records (FCRA and DPPA)

Some roles involve a consumer report — a driving record or a background check. When that happens we follow the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Driver's Privacy Protection Act: we use the report only for the job you applied for, and if you believe something in it is wrong you can ask us to investigate and correct it.

Children

This site is a business tool, not a service for children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The date at the top always shows the current version, and a material change will be announced on the site before it takes effect.
